Vintage Scrapbooking

Well, this is something that I have wanted to do for a long time but it always got put on the back burner!

My Baby album . . .

Now I know some of you may have read the title of todays post and laughed when you seen the date of the album cover,

But that's the reality - we '81 babies are now classed as 'Vintage' and I wanted a Country Style Vinatge Nursery theme as well for this album.

My photos are very dear to me,

So when I did this finally, I wanted to do it right!

No negatives of these photos and so once photos are added to layouts that's where they are staying 'til I'm gone and beyond (hopefully)

I had chosen to use the #uniquelycreative Story Garden Collection from last year.

I loved it as the images were a lot alike to the Beatrix Potter Books my Mum used to read to us at Bedtime.

And so I have had all the supplies and layouts ready to go for a good while,

I even chose and purchased a 8.5" x 11" Cream Leather D Ring album over 12 months ago!

But Procrastination is the name of the game for me!

But, it's winter and now perfect time to be by the fire and getting the supplies out and getting cozy!

So over the King's Birthday Weekend I was able to get things together and start some pages!

I Started with the Cover Page for the album,

To set the tone for the album.

As the Story Garden Collection included some great Embellishments and Elements,

This was easy once I stopped over adding elements and kept it simple!

All products I used are from Uniquely Creative,

The Tittle I used the BABY Slimline Die with the Hey Baby Laser Cuts.

Added some muslin on top a few paper doilies,

As this reminds me of the wraps we used to wrap bubs in!

On top of a paper from the Story Garden 6 x 6 Mini Paper Pack.

Underneath it all is a sheet of vellum from the Story Garden Vellum Album Inserts Pack.

Torn in half to give it some instant aging!

The embellishments are cuts from the 12 x 12 papers, Creative Cuts Pack and Mixed Metal Keys pack of embellishments (which I adore!)

Now my most treasured element of this page apart from the photo,

The Newspaper article - This I gently adhered to some 300gsm white Card so it will be safe.

And raised it up slightly with some cardboard I use as foam adhesive - cardboard I find is a bit more stable as over time it doesn't squish as much and we have heaps around the home

So a great way to upcycle!

To finish off the Layout I added a vintage key from the mixed keys pack - this needs a good glue to keep it adhered so I used the #couturecreations Quick Dry Glue

Then added the last element but a pretty important detail.

some wooden style Stickers from Simple Stories, to add the year!

Which had been in my stash for quiet some years!

The next layout was another single photo as we didn't take multiple photos back then and especially my family as we were a country farm family!

One roll of film lasted 3-6 months!

(My kids would cost me a fortune if we were on this system still!!)

This layout I decided to add in some florals from another collection, High Tea.

I used the Vellum Cuts and layered them over a embossed white card panel.

The greatest thing about the vellum cuts,

they are like Washi tape and if you don't like how they have gone down you can pull it back up and fix it easily!

The emboss folder I used here, is called Enchanted.

Then I added in the Muslim again but this time I got out another favourite, The lace roses!

These are fab to stick under photos and for layering on cards too!

Definitely gives a nice vintage look!

Once again the remaining bits of the layout are just Creative Cuts, wooden Laser cuts from the Story Garden Collection.

Just love that Mumma Bunny, almost like a Midwife Bunny!

Under the bunny I added more roses from the Vellum cuts, but didn't take the backing off the adhesive side, just glued them in.

As there was another Newspaper clipping I did the same process and added it again to the 300gsm white card, this time I added it flat as the pages I need to keep them minimal as by the end the album will be too thick to put on a shelf!

Hope this helps you start some of those albums we put off constantly,

As we do need to do this as I found, looking back at family history,

images.

Gives you a real sense of who they were!

I am so very blessed with having a prominent family in our family line,

so I have many images of them - And it's definitely been wonderful being able to look into their eyes and gain a sense of who they were,

So I am hoping my grandies and just maybe great-grandies,

may have something to hold on to,

now I am putting this together for them!

I also will be adding some journaling in on some pages from my mother in her hand writing, while I still have her around with us.

So we have something truly special to remember!

Thanks for visiting!
